I cannot believe it has already been an entire month since my sweet little girl graced us with her presence!
What an amazing journey it has been so far and I pray that the Lord will continue to bless us through all the mountains and valleys to come. I told Tyler the other day that I was made to be a mom! Everyone tells you what a wonderfully overwhelming feeling it is to be a mom, but until you experience it yourself you will never know just how AMAZING it is!!
We went to the doctor today for our 1 month wellness exam and everything looked great! The doctor says Ellie is growing, eating and developing beautifully.
Weight: 9 lb. 11.5 oz - 50%
Length: 20.75" - 25%
Ellie, you have been such a huge blessing to our lives and we can't remember life without you. In your first month on God's earth you have captivated us with your adorable little self. Often, we find ourselves just watching you - admiring your beautiful eyes, cute cheeks, sweet little hands, crazy hair (it is starting to get curlier and has a mind of its own), precious toes, adorable smile and attempt to laugh (but no sound comes out yet), even your precious vocal chords when we can't quite figure out what it is you are trying to tell us.
You love snuggle time with daddy, your swing, tummy time and your piano toy. You have the strongest legs I have ever seen on a baby. We think you are going to be crawling before we know it, you already try to crawl up daddy's chest when he is burping you.
TRANSFORMATION UPDATE:
It is amazing how God made our bodies to inflate over 9 months to accommodate the precious miracle growing inside of us AND to deflate so rapidly afterwards. Yes, I lost 8 pounds of baby instantly (and I'm sure an additional 5 pounds in fluids, etc.) but that left a whopping 19 pounds to shed in order to get back to my pre-baby weight.
Well, nursing is a huge help in shrinking back down (it can burn up to 500 calories/day) but I have also been walking every day to get back in shape. It feels so good to be able to walk more than a mile without huffing and puffing! Doc has me on a "walking-only" workout regimen for the time being - don't want to bust any stitches, but I hope to be released for full workouts at my next appointment.
Date: May 15, 2013 (exactly one month after baby)
Progress: 5 pounds away from pre-baby weight
Clothes: Back into MOST of my pre-baby clothes
A huge thank you to all of your support, prayers and love through this journey! Also, thank you to everyone who has generously brought dinner to us and taken time out of their busy lives to come by and see Ellie.
May God's love continue to rain down on each of you daily!
Verse of the day: ... fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. - Hebrews 12:2
With love,
Tyler and Nicole

ReplyDeleteYou look great momma! Glad Ellie is doing well..
ReplyDeleteNicole, you look FANTASTIC! There is no way I would have put up a picture of myself after just having a baby a month earlier! You're doing so good to start early in losing the weight. It's nice too, that you've had some good weather lately too, to go walking in. (What's sad is, I still need to lose my "baby weight" even 27 years later!) Loved reading your blog and keep posting pictures so I can keep up with your new little family! Hope to see you guys sometime this year! Take care and tell Tyler, "Hello" from me!
